Betty Hayes relocated from California to Elizabeth City 5 years ago in order to be closer to her two adult children who live in Chesapeake, Va.  She and her husband, Tom, associated themselves with Holy Family Church as soon as they arrived.  Sadly, Betty is now a widow.  Since becoming a parishioner of Holy Family, she has handled the scheduling of the ministers and served as a lector.  She is also Lector Coordinator and is just winding up her term on the Parish Council.  Serving in the Parish Office since December of 2005, she says this is a blessing since it gives her a reason to get up in the morning.  Incidentally, since Father Jim changed the daily Mass times to 8 A. M., she is getting up earlier than she otherwise would.
